- 5 HABITS THAT WILL HELP YOU THRIVE
We all want to live a long and happy life. The good news is that that’s one of the many benefits of finding your authentic self; the transformation from surviving to thriving leading to an increase in quality and longevity of life. This month I wanted to share with you the most important habits you will learn on this journey. Can you guess what they are? Read on to find out. There are many habits to learn along the way to finding your authentic self so you can thrive in life and work, but without these top 5 you will struggle to sustain the transformation long term: 1) Manage your expectations We all have this vision of what we think our life should be; what we think our career should involve, how our ideal partner should behave, who our friends should be. Very often the reality looks a bit different. So let go of your expectations and embrace each experience as it is. It’ll help you build stronger bonds with people and enjoy the moment more meaning you’ll treasure your experiences rather than drain your energy wishing things were different. 2) Learn to say no Being assertive and having the ability to say “no” in a polite and respectful way will not only mean you can spend your time doing things you love rather than things you feel you have to do, it’ll also allow you to do those things guilt free! Start small by listening to and putting your own needs first. Then follow this up with polite declines to the things you don’t want to do. And remember, you don’t have to justify yourself “sorry, I’m unable to make it but have a wonderful time” is perfectly sufficient. 3) Accept the past and move on We all have a past full of both negative and positive experiences. The reality is that you probably carry some of these experiences with you. However, if you want to find your authentic self and thrive you need to accept the past is in the past. Be kind to yourself and let it go. Instead, embrace the experiences you had and cherish the memories and lessons learned. Move forwards with the wisdom but leave everything else where it belongs; behind you. 4) Take care of yourself We all need different things to be healthy, so take the time to learn what’s good for you (not what’s good for everyone else), that way you’ll independently be able to take care of your own needs. This is crucial. Developing your self-awareness is key here. And don’t forget the basics such as staying hydrated, eating healthily, getting enough sleep and moving regularly. 5) What you tell yourself impacts everything What we tell ourselves significantly influences the way we see the world and so impacts our ability to thrive. It’s therefore important that your inner world aligns with where you want to go in life. Your inner dialogue must be predominantly positive and you must learn how to manage anything negative that shows up so it doesn’t get in your way. Learning and adopting these 5 habits will go a long way to helping you thrive instead of just survive, in life and work. Dedicate time to learning and implementing each and you will see a difference to your happiness, life and work satisfaction, and resilience.

- HOW TO MANAGE EXPECTATIONS TO ACHIEVE GREATER HAPPINESS
On paper you have it all sorted. You have ticked the boxes that society told you to tick and by all external measures you are successful. Yet you often find yourself feeling disillusioned, discontent, and dissatisfied, leading to a sense of guilt for wanting more, telling yourself you should be grateful because you have a good life. The truth is that you have trapped yourself in a silent, exhausting contract with perfection. You expect yourself to perform flawlessly in every single area of your life, and you expect reality to match a script you did not even write. If you are wondering how to manage expectations so you can achieve greater happiness, you are in the right place. In this blog I’ll unpack how your unwritten scripts are keeping you trapped in despair, and the exact steps you can take to reclaim your happiness. The Trap of Expectations From a very young age we begin absorbing quiet rules about what our lives are supposed to look like. We inherit them from our family, our school life, the media, societal norms and social media. Without even realizing we’re doing it, we build scripts for how our careers should progress, how our relationships should feel, and how we should show-up on a daily basis in order to meet expectations. For high-achieving women this conditioning runs deep. You might have been the good girl who got good grades, who was praised for being reliable and who learned that her worth was directly tied to her achievements. As an adult this translates into an internal demand to do everything perfectly all the time. You expect yourself to excel at your demanding job, maintain an immaculate home, be the perfect partner, stay fit and always show up as the best version of yourself. You expect yourself to have it all figured out, never showing a single crack in your exterior. These high expectations are a crippling standard to live by and often lead to disillusionment and switching to autopilot living. Not only that but it’s impossible for you, and life in general, to meet these expectations so you’re felt feeling dissatisfied because nothing quite meets up to your expectations. When Reality Clashes with Expectation Have you ever looked forward to a milestone for months, perhaps a promotion, a holiday, a birthday, or a special anniversary, only to feel disappointed when the moment finally arrived? Instead of feeling joy, you feel a sense of let down, and you think “is this really it?” In psychology, we call this the expectation hangover. When we chase an illusion of perfection, real life, which is messy, unpredictable and full of flaws, will always feel like a disappointment. We drain our daily energy wishing things were different, comparing our actual experience to the glossy, unrealistic script in our heads. In my early twenties I was obsessed with creating a life based on external expectations. I had rigid ideas about how a successful career should look, how a partner should show love, and how exciting travel should be. Because my expectations were shaped by idealized versions of reality rather than truth, I felt disappointed constantly. Every holiday, every special occasion and every career move felt flat because it could never measure up to the impossible standards I had constructed. What we fail to realise is that the illusion of perfection is a product designed to be sold. It is not real. When you try to force your real life to fit into a sterile, perfect box, you lose your ability to actually experience it. You’re so busy evaluating whether the moment matches your expectation that you forget to live the moment itself. How I Dropped Expectations for Greater Happiness Real happiness only begins when you decide to stop buying into the illusion of perfection. For me, when I made that shift I began learning how our brains actually process expectations and discovered the immense power we hold over our own happiness. "You genuinely have the power to decide how happy you want to be." I made a conscious decision to drop the heavy, rigid scripts that were leaving me disappointed, and when I stopped thinking my life, career, relationships, and holidays should be perfect, everything shifted. Suddenly my life became magical. Every holiday was wonderful because it was allowed to be exactly what it was. Every relationship became deeper because I accepted people for who they were instead of who I thought or wanted them to be. Every special occasion was special, and every effort made was seen and appreciated whole heartedly. I truly became grateful for every moment of my life and the people in it. I still, however, held myself to a higher standard than everyone else. Not because I thought I was better but because I thought I had to be perfect to be successful. A Practical Exercise to Manage Your Expectations Changing the expectations you have of life and the people within it is something you can achieve through small, daily re-frames. Stop looking for perfect and start looking for the good in what’s in front of you. Live in the moment and accept these moments for what they are; flawed but still perfectly beautiful. Changing the expectations you have of yourself is more challenging. I want to share a simple, practical exercise to highlight to get you started on this journey by highlighting the gap between how you treat yourself and how you treat the people you love. I use every time I feel my expectations crippling me and it helps to remind me that good enough is exactly what it is; good enough. Please take a piece of paper and try this today: Write a list of everything you expect yourself to accomplish today. Include the work tasks, the life admin, the exercise and the social commitments. Look at that list and draw a line underneath the absolute point where you would be happy to end the day knowing you did a genuinely good job. Now imagine you have handed this list to a loved one, a close friend or a partner, and asked them to complete these tasks during their day. At what point on that list would you tell them, "You have done an amazing job today, stop working and rest"? I can almost guarantee that the line you set for them is much lower than the line you set for yourself. At the end of the day, look back at what you actually accomplished. Instead of focusing on what you didn’t achieve, focus on the progress made and praise yourself for your efforts. Speak to yourself the same way you would speak to that loved one. Use their words, their kindness and their realistic standards. If you practice this simple exercise every day for a week you will begin to dismantle the internal conditioning that demands constant perfection. You will start to see that you are allowed to be human and that your value does not decrease because you left a task unfinished. Letting Go of Perfection Happiness does not come from controlling every single outcome, nor does it come from performing flawlessly. It comes from having the courage to meet life exactly as it is, with all its beautiful, messy and unpredictable details. When you step away from setting expectations based on unrealistic standards, you finally give yourself permission to breathe. You realise that you do not need to have your entire life figured out to be happy. You do not need to have every single step of your future figured out to build a beautiful, rich and deeply satisfying life. You just need to be present for the life that is happening right now. I believe positive change doesn't stop with one person. Every time we gain a new perspective, build confidence or make a healthier choice, it has the potential to influence the people around us. That's the positive ripple effect of thriving, and it's something I care deeply about. The more people who become part of this community, the more opportunities we have to learn from one another, support each other and create meaningful, lasting change. Ready to live a regret-free life? Experience a structured framework driven coaching approach personalised to you breakfree from autopilot and intentionally build a regret-free life. HI, I'M STACEY MY APPROACH TO A REGRET-FREE LIFE IS SIMPLE BUT HIGHLY EFFECTIVE. At the heart of what I do is a deep desire to help others break-free from a life that doesn’t feel like their own. A life that looks successful on the outside but feels heavy on the inside. A life they’ve curated due to societal pressures and other people’s expectations. A life that if left unchanged they will ultimately come to regret. I create a safe space for professional women who want to live a life that’s authentically theirs so that they do not get to the end of their life and wish they’d lived it differently. I don’t focus on surface-level motivation or quick fixes. I don’t believe in blowing up your life for the sake of change. My approach blends emotional depth with forward momentum so that you can truly move forwards with a deeper understanding of yourself. I’m therapy-informed, which means we honour your past experiences and behaviour patterns, but we don’t stay stuck there. We tackle the core beliefs that you have that are keeping you stuck, what’s making it hard to make the change, and what you’d like instead. We then use this insight to build momentum.
