Life coaching is a forward-focused, collaborative process designed to help you overcome challenges and take intentional action toward the life you actually want. It’s not about fixing you, because you’re not broken, it’s about creating space to pause, reflect, and make decisions that feel aligned with who you truly are, not just who you’ve been expected to be.
Where therapy often helps people heal and survive, coaching helps functioning-but-unfulfilled people move from “is this all there is?” to “this life feels like mine.” Through structured conversations, practical tools, and honest reflection, life coaching supports you to trust yourself again, make braver choices, and shape a future you won’t regret.
Life coaching is right for you if you're not in crisis but you know something needs to change. You might feel stuck, restless, disillusioned, or quietly dissatisfied, even though your life looks ‘good’ on the outside. You're functioning, you're showing up, you're doing what's expected, but underneath there's a question that keeps surfacing: "is this really the life I want?"
If there's a gap between where you are and where you want to be, and you're putting off making the decisions required to move forwards then life coaching is exactly what you need. It will help you turn reflection into action in a way that feels grounded, considered and sustainable. Life coaching isn't about being told what to do, it's about learning to trust yourself enough to listen to your own voice, decide what's next and be confident in your choices moving forwards.
Both coaching and therapy are valuable, and across my career I have been both a coach and a therapist so I am uniquely positioned to answer this question for you.
Put simply, therapy focuses on healing. It helps you process past experiences, work through trauma, and stabilise mental health challenges. If you're feeling overwhelmed, depressed, anxious, or struggling to function day-to-day, therapy is best positioned to support you as it helps you develop the skills needed to survive.
Whereas, coaching focuses on the future. It's action-oriented, forward-thinking, and centred on growth, confidence, and decision-making, and is designed for people who feel stuck, unfulfilled or disconnected with themselves. You won't feel like you're in crisis but you will feel like something is misaligned.
Coaching helps you:
· Clarify what you truly want
· Untangle expectations from desires
· Rebuild self-trust
· Make intentional, confident decisions
· Move forward with purpose
If you're still unsure about whether it's therapy or coaching that would be best for you, let's talk it through. Use my Ask Me Anything service to outline your circumstances and I'll provide my recommendation.
